READER RESCUE UPDATE PT 2

I just wanted to write in to say how my recovery was working out [Reader Rescue, issue 354]. My training went well between the accident and LCW, and Nick [Beer]’s advice was very helpful. I went to Tenby intending to have an enjoyable weekend, take it easy and see how it went; I ended up beating all my 2016 times and placing 13th overall, so a great weekend!

What made the weekend more special, though, was completing the three days and finishing the marathon with my wife, who was knocked off her bike by a car while out training only two weeks before LCW. Through stubbornness and determination she was on the start line after a horrific two weeks – she placed third for the ladies. Watching her receive recognition on the podium among other very talented athletes was emotional, to say the least. Hopefully we can continue to train well and turn up at Ironman Wales fit and healthy without further incidents! Matt Vermeer
