FINISH STRONG ON THE RACE TRACK

Capitalise on your high race fitness/low training fatigue and set a solid PB for 2019

- DURATION 75MINS COACH SCOTT FINDLAY

So you’ve finished your ‘A’ races and you’re ready for the off-season... not quite. Because now is the perfect time to get the most out of your body!

You’ve completed a season of racing and training and your body has adapted to give you high levels of race fitness. But it’s also the end of the season, so fatigue levels should be low due to reduced training volume.

Armed with this knowledge, find a running race or, at the very least, visit the local parkrun (the faster the course the better). The aim is to achieve the best time possible to set you up for next season. Whether it’s been a good or bad season, go out with a bang and get a good result to motivate you when you come back from the off-season break. You can choose which distance you’d like to run, but go for a distance you’ve done before to compare to previous efforts. This will be even more beneficial if it’s a race you’ve completed before, as it will give you a better idea of fitness improvements.
