COACH’S TIPS OPTIMISE YOUR SESSION

USE POOL TOOLS

Swim speed sets with fins and paddles while holding good technique to develop power and overspeed work. This will also help develop faster swimming speeds.

ADD RESISTANCE

Complete sprint intervals against resistance for power and do assisted swims with a bungy cord for overspeed developmen­t. Again aim for good technique while increasing stroke rates.

INCLUDE SPRINTS

Include short 10, 15 & 25m sprints in your endof-season training to stay sharp and get faster. Changing pace is both physically demanding and beneficial for openwater performanc­e.
