This is a good chance to practise some ‘stressfree’ racing. It’s a bonus race that you hadn’t originally planned, so relax and enjoy it – you might just perform better!
Negative split it
The key to a fast race is to negative split it. Try to start at a manageable pace and get faster with each km. Plan what pace to start at based on what pace you want to average for the run.
