£125 Lightweight run jacket

The Hideout run jacket from Brooks is lightweight, stylish and comfortable. The breathability and windproofing is adequate for autumal efforts and we like the thumb loops for stopping any chilly winds up the sleeves, but the garment just can’t live up to the American brand’s claims that it ‘provides unrivalled protection from water.’ After a 20min test run in dismal conditions, our run tee and base layer below were both sodden with rain water. This lack of waterproofing continued in further runs and our waterproofing tests at home (drizzle-proof is more apt). For £125, the features list is also small, and we’d prefer the addition of a chest pocket for storing our phone/MP3 without bouncing while on the move. brooksrunning.com
