£75 The Blok Softshell is set to become a popular addition to Dhb’s huge line, as it’s a comfortable, form-fitting number. It features a wind-resistant membrane on the front panel and sleeves to fend off gusts, though it’s not as warmingly effective as Santini’s Beta. That thoroughly softshell focus also means water-resistance isn’t great. The soft, fleecy Roubaix inner is a winner in the comfort stakes, but it’s the fit that stands out, with elastane included in the upper and insert – the rest is polyester – and an excellent cut merging perfectly when in the aero or road position. A high neck, and elasticated silicone gripper on the hem and drop tail increase its thermal and protective attributes, but it’s breathable thanks to lighter, thinner polyester on the back and underarm panels.
