£220 Le Col is the brainchild of Yanto Barker, the road rider who set up the brand nearly a decade ago. That high-performance road pedigree is seen in the Pro C2, which is the most ergonomic fit on test. Actually, that’s a polite way of saying tight, so arguably this is for athletes who are in optimum physical condition. But, if it fits your shape, it’s a quality top, with the Schoeller-Dynamic and WindTex outer materials putting up impressive resistance against the wind and rain, all at a light weight. Part of that weight saving is down to an absence of a fleece inner seen on the majority here, which isn’t a huge loss as you’ll inevitably be wearing at least a base layer beneath. Despite its hightech materials, a mid-layer’s advisable, too, when temperatures really plummet. Three large rear pockets are well-designed and easily accessed, and there’s also a fourth waterproof security pocket. lecol.cc
