HOKA ONE ONE TORRENT
£105 We’re fans of Hoka’s Speedgoat trail shoes, but the Torrent knock these – and most trail shoes – out of the park. Hoka bill them as a trail racer and they boast the lightest weight here (231g), a staggeringly-responsive ride from the PROFLY midsole and a minimal 5mm drop aiding the forward propulsion (downhills are a blast). But the appeal isn’t limited to racing, and we’d use the Torrent as long-distance training shoes due to the cushioning provided by the 23mm stack height. They’re also better looking and cheaper than standard Hokas. The toe bumper protection is limited, however.
