£125 They may lack Inov-8’s much-hyped graphene inserts, but the Trailtalon 290 are a surefire winner of a shoe. They’re the most versatile of the shoes here, and we’ve happily used them on trails, towpaths and tarmac over the testing period. The multi-directional 4mm lugs are superior at shedding debris and provide traction in all but the muddiest of conditions, and there’s plenty of outsole durability. The lean 290g weight combines with the Powerflow midsole and slender 8mm drop to give a swift and comfy ride on multi-distance runs, even if we’d want more toe protection.
