How we tested

A long testing period gave us the chance to assess all shoes in a mix of conditions, from hardened late summer tracks to submerged winter routes. Each of the trail shoes was given a series of shorter and faster runs, and the same 20km off-road test loop, with grip, speed, comfort, stability, protection, ventilation and drainage all assessed. We also looked at value, aesthetics, durability and weight (all figures are for a single UK 7 shoe). We factored in the targeted aim of each shoe as well, whether that’s training, racing or a combination of the two.
