ROB MCARTHUR AND POLDY VAN LYNDEN

The two friends set themselves a challenge to get from Marble Arch in London to Svalbard, deep in the Arctic circle, on human power alone to raise money for The Scout Association. Threeand-a-half years later, they ran to Dover, swam 21 miles to Calais, cycled 2,000 miles to Tromso, Norway, and rowed 700 miles to Svalbard in 12 weeks, making it a world first.
