POWER STONES SMALL SET
£870 Is this new product worth it for space-constrained training?
Power Stones consist of a set of polyester stones – consisting of three different stones of different diameters – and a mat to place them on. The Power Stones can be used for a gentle walk (especially useful if you can’t leave your residence on lockdown, for example), but their main goal is to provide a platform for training balance, coordination, and proprioceptive functions (or as a tool for physio, yoga, and stretching).
They can effectively replicate the kind of path of stones you’d jump on when crossing a river, or the unpaved terrain of a trail race. The company recommends the use of these mats to make the stones more balanced and provide a more effective shock-absorption surface.
The idea is a simple and innovative one, and you don’t need much space at all; even a square metre will do the trick. You can move the stones around any way you prefer. Pictured here is the standard size of one mat, where you can place up to seven stones of different sizes. This set-up is enough to keep you busy, bring your heart rate up, and make you sweat.
The only limit to the Power Stones is your own creativity in designing an effective training program for your goals. If you have access to a backyard, garden or balcony (let alone a gym space), the combo of several mats and stones will amplify the results. The other consideration is that price. Yet we feel it’s worth it, with a very durable construction for both the pads and stones, and especially in the event of future lockdowns.
