ADAPTING TO THE TOOLBOX
David Sproxton says director Nick Park learned to love digital on Early Man
Tools such as digital SLR cameras and stop-motion software like Dragonframe have been around for a while. As have tablets for drawing and storyboarding, but Sproxton admits on Early Man that director Nick Park was initially hesitant to adopt them.
“He still loves drawing,” says Sproxton. “A lot of our artists still draw on paper and some of them will scan stuff in, but increasingly they go straight into a tablet. With Nick, it took him a little while, but now of course he loves it because you can just erase stuff and change it, and you don’t have to repeat drawings.”
