At­tribute man­age­ment is one of the most im­por­tant fac­tors to main­tain­ing con­trol through­out the script. The eas­i­est way to keep the data stream lean and con­sis­tent is to branch op­er­a­tions and then copy rel­e­vant at­tributes back to the main stream by id – in­clud­ing P. When work­ing with hair, use prim ids and prim points to copy data in an at­tribute wran­gle. This will en­able carv­ing and re­sam­pling curves with­out wor­ry­ing about scram­bling at­tributes. Aside from that, keep­ing a uv at­tribute on the curves is one of the best ways to add an ex­tra level of con­trol dur­ing op­er­a­tions.
