NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS
To say 2020 was a funny old year would be something of a monumental understatement. The world looks a very different place as a consequence of restrictions on our freedom and the threat of illness bestowed upon us by the global health crisis, a disaster we are all continuing to contend with as 2021 rolls into view. Regardless of the inconvenience many of us are facing in our professional and personal lives, my hope is you remain well and stay safe. Together, we’ll get through the challenges lying in wait.
The automotive enthusiast and aftermarket scenes have, mercifully, been far less affected by COVID-19 that many commentators were anticipating, resulting in a surge of activity on the project car and parts manufacturing front. It may be too early to start thinking seriously about show season, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing the new-to-events Porsches likely to be unveiled as a consequence of dedicated owners getting busy with their four-wheeled friends during periods of lockdown. Judging by some of the builds-in-progress I’m spying in specialist workshops right now, release into the wild can’t come soon enough.
If you’ve taken time to read this message, you’ll note another change in readiness for the year ahead: I’m delighted to have been invited to take over from Steve Bennett as editor of 911 & Porsche World. Kicking off my time in the hot seat (and looking firmly forward to a time we can all get together as a community), this issue presents 2021’s best buys, as listed by marque experts. I hope you enjoy reading the article as much as we enjoyed pulling it together. We wish you the best of luck with your next Porsche purchase!
