Playwrights can hear work come to life at new reading group

-

THE Civic Arts Centre and Theatre in Oswaldtwistle is starting a play reading group.

The aim is to discuss and choose the plays to be read for each session and try and cater for all tastes.

Lauren Stirzaker, who works at the Civic has started up the group.

If it proves popular, she hopes to create even more opportunities for any budding playwrights who might want to get involved and hear their work read out loud.

Lauren said: “I wanted to start a group that was not quite a book club but a bit more interactive.

“Even if you have never done anything like this before and even if you just want to listen to the plays, that’s fine.

“This group is for anyone with an interest in acting, plays and reading.”

The group will be held on the first Monday of the month, with the potential to develop into a fortnightly or weekly session.

It will meet for the first session on Monday, August 3 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

There will be a subscription of £2 per person to cover costs of scripts, photocopying, room hire and tea and coffee.

If interested, call Lauren Stirzaker on 01254 398319.
