Tony Dobson

Hyndburn Conservative leader

WELL, the election season is almost upon us and this year I think one of the most important ones you as local residents can take part in, is on May 4, when you will be asked to vote for a local county councillor. This is someone to represent you at County Hall and someone who decides how to spend over 80 per cent of the council tax money you pay each year to Hyndburn Council.

Lancashire County Council are responsible for our roads, footpaths, waste disposal, street lighting just to name a few. As a local Hyndburn councillor I get more requests, enquiries and complaints about services that Lancashire provide for us here in Hyndburn than anything else.

Lancashire County Council spends hundreds of millions of pounds of your taxpayers money on your behalf, so choosing the right candidate is absolutely key, someone who listens to what local residents want, someone who has the ability to put those requests into action, someone who can make every pound go further, someone who will not promise the Earth but who will try their best.

As leader of the Conservative Group in Hyndburn, I am proud of the candidates that we have chosen in each of the wards. I truly believe that their background, experience and enthusiasm will bring the highest quality representation to County Hall and I would ask each and every one of you, before you make your choice on May 4 to look closely at the candidates we have chosen and that we recommend to you, our residents in Hyndburn.
