Food festival back on menu
FOOD lovers will be treated to delicacies from across the world with dozens of producers set to arrive in Hyndburn.
The North West Food and Drink Festival will return to the Whitakers Arms in Accrington next month and will bring together the finest selection of regional produce and global flavours.
Organisers say the event is a ‘ must’ for lovers of homemade treats, local produce and dishes from as far afield as Mexico and Asia.
Grant Smallridge, head chef at the Burnley Road pub, will hold live demonstrations throughout the day with some seasonal flavours for visitors to enjoy.
The lounge area will also have a selection of guest ales and prosecco cocktails.
A spokesperson for the event said: “The idea behind the festival was that we needed a new experience for local people, attracting producers from across the region to share their delicious dishes and treats.
“Other events in the area bring stalls from across the UK.
“Every stall is from the North West and every single trader is bringing something unique to the day. We have built on past successes and this is set to be the best yet.”
As well as creating a community event, Cancer Research UK will benefit as each stallholder has made a donation to this worthwhile cause.
The North West Food and Drink Festival is free to enter but donations are welcome to support the charity.
Children will be able to enjoy face painting, sand art and the chance to decorate a cupcake with icing, sprinkles and sparkles in the festival activity area.
Hyndburn school pupils will also test out their own cooking skills with a ‘Build a Burger’ competition and will have an opportunity for their winning recipe to appear on the specials board for a month.
The North West Food and Drink Festival will take place on Saturday, May 6, from 10am to 4pm.
