YOUR THEATRE ACTOR
Name:
Malcolm Binns.
Hometown:
Oswaldtwistle.
How long have you been with Oswaldtwistle Players?:
I have been with Oswaldtwistle Players for over 20 years in many roles but have mainly been involved on the technical side with staging and lighting. Our next production is Brassed Off.
Who is your character in the play?:
I play ex-miner Danny, the band leader.
Have you been in any other productions?:
The first ever play I performed in was at the Arts Club in Accrington and was directed by Malcolm Hebden - ‘Norris’ on Coronation Street. The play was ‘All in Good Time’ by Bill Naughton, who also wrote ‘Alfie’. I played the brother of the main male character. My character was more of a tearaway and edgier than his brother - definitely not typecasting!
What do you most enjoy?:
The camaraderie around productions from everyone involved whether on stage or backstage.
Who is your favourite actor and why?:
There are too many great actors to pick one out but Pete Postlethwaite, who played my part in the film, is certainly up there.
If you could play any part what would it be and why?:
I take each production as it comes and feel all the plays we have done are special in their own way.
Oswaldtwistle Players’ next production is the hilarious, moving and uplifting drama ‘Brassed Off’, adapted from the film starring Ewan McGregor.
