MRS Eileen Stanley nee Noblet, of Talbot Street, Rishton, died on Monday, April 10, aged 95.

Eileen was born at 20 Parker Street, Rishton on November 14, 1921 to Francis Augustine and Mary Noblet. She was the youngest of seven children (Nellie, Frank, Eddie, Mary, Bill, Lucy and Eileen). She went to St Charles School, Rishton and left at age 14 to work in the mill as a weaver.

When the Second World War broke out, she was seconded to work on the Bristol Beaufighte­r at Bristol Aircraft Works, Clayton-le-Moors, returning to weaving after the war.

She met Gordon and started courting and got married at St Charles, Rishton on June 4, 1949 with Father Murphy officiatin­g. John and David, their two sons, followed in 1951 and 1956.

Eileen moved into Talbot Street in September 1951 when John was only six weeks old, from 20 Parker Street, which only had gas lighting. She has lived there for 65 years.

She worked at Broadloom Carpets, then Don Shoe Slipper Works, returning to Broadloom and finally finishing her working life as a Home Help.

Eileen would like it to be known that her church, St Charles, meant a great deal to her as she worshipped there all her life.

In later years Eileen became a member of the Rishton Centre, where she and Gordon enjoyed chatting, making friends and lots of fond memories.

Married for almost 68 years, Eileen has two grandsons Marc and Andrew and two greatgrand­sons Richard and George. She also leaves daughters-in-law Sandra and Lyn.

Her funeral will be held at 10am on Friday, April 21 at St Charles RC Church, Rishton, officiated by Fr Martin Dowd. Cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m will follow at 11.40am.
