ARSONISTS set fire to allotment outbuildings and swings. Firefighters were called to three separate fires at the top of Peel Park Avenue in Accrington (website and July 12)

Gayle Rogan: I know it’s everywhere but what the actual hell is happening to our town!? I feel so sorry for all the services having to deal with [incidents] like this on a daily basis – no wonder nurses numbers are down as reported! Shirley Southward: They have no idea how much work and effort goes into looking after these places. What the hell is wrong with them? This country’s standards are lower than ever.... Great Britain...we were once. Susan Gowans: I would be devastated if someone did this to my lottie! No respect for anything these days, even their own stuff, as they know it will just gets replaced! Christine Rawcliffe: Pathetic idiots. Mark Croasdale: Utter morons.

VILLAGE safety concerns after motorists averaging DOUBLE the speed limit. Speeding hotspots were identified at Oswaldtwistle’s area forum meeting (Observer, July 7 and website)

Jo Reeves: How can Blackburn Road, West End not get a mention! Surely that’s the worst for speeding? Carla Mclennan: I live on Blackburn Road just after Wynsors shoe shop and it’s ridiculous the speed they get up to. I’m talking 90mph plus, it’s that bad it shakes my house! Cars have ended up in gardens and the amount of crashes is monthly. I’m surprised no one has been killed here. It’s scary! Kevin Stokes: It’s bad all along from Church to Intack. We live on West End, seen some real loons bombing through. Needs monitoring by police. Krystina Louise Soloniewicz: I can vouch for that, I work on Blackburn Road. It’s absolutely ridiculous how fast they go, can’t even see what model of car it is they go that fast! It’s shocking, something needs to be done. Laura Livesey: Even with the speed bumps on Thwaites Road they speed up and down there. It’s ridiculous as well that the speed bumps are only halfway up the street and aren’t outside the school at the top of the road. Mark Robson: Need the mobile speed cameras at night on Stanhill Road, not day time, it’s like a race track at night after 10pm. Rachel Bamford: Roegreave Road is bad. Christopher Brindle: Good. I’m sick of being chased down Fielding Avenue when I’m trying to stick to 30. Gavin Meek: Charter Street, people are flying up and down the road at 50mph and even faster at times and I believe it is a 20mph zone. Sue Hull: Fielding Lane. Jackie Carey: Union Road, they drive side by side!
