RAYMOND POWER

-

MR Raymond Power, of Miller Close, Oswaldtwistle, passed away suddenly, while on holiday in Croatia, on Thursday, July 6, aged 74.

On leaving school Ray went to work at the Cotton Mill at Daisyfield in Blackburn, he later joined Blackburn Corporation and worked as a refuse collector. A few years later he changed job roles and went to work at Cocker Chemicals in Oswaldtwistle before moving over to Blythe’s Chemicals at Church where he worked for over 25 years, up until his retirement.

In his spare time Ray liked gardening and doing DIY for friends and family and if anything was ever broken Ray would fix it! Ray liked tinkering and people would often bring broken items around to Ray’s for him to fix.

He also took pleasure in going away on holidays with his family and also close friends Dave and Anne, with cruising around the Mediterranean being one of his favourites.

Ray enjoyed socialising and was often seen on a Saturday night at the James Street Club before it closed down and also the Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club, he also was a member of their committees. More recently he enjoyed going to Clayton Conservative Club where he would play bingo. He also liked having the occasional flutter.

He will be truly missed but fondly remembered by all his family and friends.

Raymond was a beloved husband of Deidre, a much loved father to Christine, Micheal, Anthony and Jean, a dear father-in-law of Fred, Janet, Edwina and John, a treasured grandfather to Zoe, Stephen, Anthony, Sarah, Gemma, Nathan and Elisha and their partners and also a great-grandfather to Oliver, Amalie, Mason, Jacub, Essien, Reuben and Anna-Leigh.
