MR Michael Dominic Hollingswo­rth, of Emma Street, Accrington, died on Friday, January 5, aged 71.

Michael worked for Prestige in Blackburn for many years. His work included forklift truck driver/stock control and working in the warehouse; he worked there up to his retirement. His working life started in the Army where he served as Grenadier Guard in London – working both at Buckingham Palace and The Tower of London.

He loved to compete in table tennis competitio­ns at his place of work. He also enjoyed watching game shows and quizzes on TV. He loved playing games on his X-Box console and mobile phone. He was a true family man spending much valuable time with his extended family. He loved his family holidays – particular­ly to the seaside, his favourite places being Cornwall and Wales.

Michael was the beloved husband of Pat, devoted dad of Terry, Michael, Julie, Kerry and Laurie. He was also a much-loved grandad, father-in-law, brother-inlaw, and a dear brother of Stephen, Evelyn, Jeff and Sheila.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, January 19, with a Requiem Mass at St Anne’s RC Church on Cobham Road, Accrington, administer­ed by Fr. Simon Stamp, followed by burial at Accrington Cemetery, Burnley Road, Accrington. Invited guests only can meet afterwards at The Whittakers Arms, Burnley Road, Accrington.

Flowers are welcome, or donations, if desired, are suggested to Hyndburn Homeless.
