WE are thrilled to announce that two of our long-standing volunteers and casual gallery assistants have now joined the gallery as part-time members of staff.

Alison Iddon first joined Haworth Art Gallery in February 2015 as a volunteer working front-of-house, in the shop and assisting with research and documentation of the gallery’s collections of art and artefacts. Alison has a degree in history as well as a MA in heritage studies and she has worked in various museums and galleries in the North West. Alison became a casual gallery assistant in 2016, covering staff leave and working on a Heritage Lottery Funded history trail between Scaitcliffe House and the gallery, connecting the working and home life of William Haworth.

In her new role, in addition to working with our visitors, Alison will be assisting with developing exhibitions and supporting curator, Gillian Berry in re-designing one of our Tiffany rooms to tell the story of Accrington’s Joseph Briggs and his contribution to Art Nouveau and Tiffany glass.

Rachael Fielding first joined Haworth Art Gallery in May 2015 on a five-week work placement from Chester University.

Rachael enjoyed her time so much at the gallery that she arranged to spend her university sandwich year here as a volunteer, supporting herself through additional part-time work during the evenings. Rachael spent her year working front-of-house, in the shop and assisting with events and weddings.

Rachael graduated with a degree in tourist management and spent the summer of 2017 working in Universal Studios, Florida. Rachael became a casual gallery assistant in 2016, covering staff leave and organising craft fairs. In her new role, in addition to working with our visitors, Rachael will be joining the weddings and events team, assisting with the development and organisation of our services and promoting the gallery both at local and national level.

We are all now looking forward to exciting new developments at Haworth Art Gallery, and you can discover all about them on our Facebook pages.

The gallery is open from noon to 4.45pm, Tuesday to Friday and 12 noon to 4.15pm Saturday, Sunday, free entrance and parking.
