ACCRINGTON Cricket Club are searching for a new shirt sponsor, with local legend David Lloyd reaching out to local businesses to get involved.

Lloyd was England cricket captain from 1973 to 1977 and previously played for Accrington Cricket Club, and he hopes a good deal can be struck.

“I think it’s a great chance for a local business to become involved with the local sporting community,” said Lloyd. “It’s rare opportunities like this pop up in Accrington. I remember my days playing for Accrington Cricket Club with fondness; the memories I made there were incredible and the sponsors involved are a huge part in creating those memories.”

Meanwhile, initiatives are currently in place to try and encourage Accrington youngsters to get involved with cricket, and club chairman Rod Kenyon is glad to see it happening.

“It’s great to see youngsters taking an interest in cricket. Here at Accrington Cricket cover the next three years. A flexible deal is also on offer where people can include the sponsorship of advertising boards at the ground, programme advertising, season tickets and the use or hire of the club house and bar for hospitality and functions.

More information on the potential sponsorship deal can be found by visiting the official Accrington Cricket Club website.
