PUPILS and staff are celebrating after their school was given a glowing report by Ofsted.
Hollins Technology College leaders have been praised for its ‘vision and rigour’ with pupils thriving in a ‘happy, safe and positive environment’.
The Accrington school has been rated ‘good’ by inspectors in all four key areas including leadership, teaching, pupil development and outcomes.
Headteacher Steve Campbell said they are ‘delighted’ that Ofsted has continued to recognise the ‘quality education provided at The Hollins’.
He said: “The report is something that all staff, pupils, parents and governors can be rightly proud of.
“The school has been graded ‘good’ in all areas with pupil development and welfare and social, moral, spiritual and cultural education seen as ‘outstanding’.
“The judgement also secures the future of The Hollins as a National Teaching School and lead school of the East Lancashire Teaching School Alliance.
“We will not be complacent in receiving this judgement and will continue to do everything in our power to incrementally improve in everything that we do, including the areas for improvement identified by Ofsted.”
Ofsted said the 800pupil school needs to improve outcomes in his- tory and modern foreign languages, ‘sustain improvements in teaching’ and refine the key stage four curriculum in order to become outstanding.
In his report, lead inspector Stephen Ruddy said: “Senior leaders, including governors, have acted with vision and rigour to overcome the areas for improvement identified at the last inspection. Consequently, this remains a good school.
“Pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural education is excellent. Accordingly, pupils thrive in the school’s happy, safe and positive environment.
Furthermore, they are well prepared for their life outside and after school by this outstanding provision
“Pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are very well supported because leaders and teachers know these pupils well.
“Pupils’ conduct around the school is good. They have strong attitudes to learning and attend regularly. Relationships with their peers and staff are positive.”
