-

Name of event: Campfire Drumming Circle and barbecue hosted by Carers Link Lancashire

When: Friday, June 15, 1.30pm to 4.30pm

What is it for?: Local people, services and businesses will come together to support carers in Hyndburn for Carers Week 2018, which runs from June 11 to 17. What does it involve?: Celebrating the vital contribution made by carers in East Lancashire. Everyone is invited to join us for our exciting Campfire Drumming Circle and barbecue to celebrate and raise awareness during Carers Week 2018. From the beating of the heart to the changing of the seasons, we all experience rhythms in our everyday lives. This event will give you the chance to have a go at playing a traditional African drum. Our drumming facilitator Filomena brings her energy, creativity and warmth to lead us on the day. You don’t need any musical experience, all you need is the desire to have a go! As well as the drums we will have a campfire to sit and sing songs around and a barbecue lunch. This is a Jacob’s Join so please bring something to cook on the barbecue or a salad or maybe your favourite sweet to share. 2BR radio will be broadcasting live for us during the afternoon and staff will be on hand with information for carers and their families.

Who are Carers Link

Lancashire?: They support carers who provide help with practical household tasks, personal care and emotional support to a family member or friend who could not manage without that support. Ten thousand carers throughout East Lancashire are registered with them. They support carers from the age of six – some may be in a caring role for only a short period, others may be a carer for decades. Carers Link Lancashire believe in a world where carers feel valued as individuals and for their contribution to society, where they are able to lead fulfilling lives with a good quality of life and where they are encouraged and able to look after themselves and their own health and wellbeing. They are based in Accrington, Lancashire.
