Zehn closes in on Reds dream

- SHELDAN KEAY

ZEHN Mohammed admits it would be his dream to make his debut for Accrington Stanley in League One.

The 18-year-old is in the second year of his first professional deal, having joined the Reds when he was 16.

He is hoping to contribute to the team’s first ever season in the third tier of English football, and says he would be achieving a life’s ambition if he can represent Accrington in League One.

“It would be my dream to make my league debut for Accrington Stanley. The intention was always to be a professional footballer and the last two years have gone really quickly,” he told the club’s official website.

“I had a trial for Accrington’s Under 16s and then signed a professional deal and I have been on the bench a couple of times.

“I just love defending, I love tackling, heading the ball and winning my individual battles. Training with the first team every day certainly helps me, especially training with the more experienced defenders.

“The gaffer and Jimmy Bell are brilliant with me, they always push me in training and try and get the best out of me.”

Mohammed knows that due to the competition for places it will be difficult to break into the Stanley side, but he is determined to try his best.

“It is fierce competition in defence here but my aim is to work hard, come back ready for pre-season the fittest I can be and, if I get my chance, take it,” he said.
