DROP in to the Prospects Foundation for fun activities aimed at encouragin­g wildlife in your garden and local area.

Name of event: Wildlife Wednesdays.

Where is it?: Oak Hill Park, Accrington.

When is it?: 1pm-3.30pm, Wednesday, August 15.

What does it involve?: Come along and enjoy a WildAid experience to find out how to attract wildlife to your garden or backyard and learn about the nature living in your local area. Join Wildlife Charlie from WildAid for a variety of fun hands-on activities along the theme of wildlife ID, seasons, plants, animals and make and build habitats. The activities are all about creating fun, memorable learning experience­s for children, which will inspire their curiosity and love of British wildlife.

Who is it suitable for?: Children 7-11 years (KS2) and 5-7 years (KS1) and their families.

Name of event: Bird Table Activity.

Where is it?: PROSPECTS Environmen­t Centre, 54 Broadway, Accrington, BB5 1EW.

When is it?: Two sessions: 10am-1pm, Saturday, August 14 and Saturday, August 28.

What does it involve?: Have fun making a bird table with Barry from Wood Creations while learning basic woodworkin­g skills. Smooth and decorate the bird table – hanging or wall mounted – and learn about its value for birds in your backyard or garden. The second session is for people to complete their bird table. This activity is part of the People’s Postcode Lottery funded Improving Hyndburn’s Wildlife project.

Who is it suitable for?: Adults, those new to woodwork and experience­d woodworker­s and bird lovers!
