GOODBYE TO A TRUE STAR

-

I WAS very sorry to hear on the radio about the actor and pop star of the 1950s, Tab Hunter.

Even though I was still of school age and Tab Hunter would have been a teenager or a very young man, I could not help but like him, even as a child.

When his huge hit Young Love / Red Sails in the Sunset was number one I feel that this was the very best time of all in popular music.

Because of his blonde hair then, young good looks, Tab Hunter graced the front page of many a girl magazine.

He was supposed to have appealed to young girls.

Let you into a secret – young boys liked Tab Hunter too. I did as a child.

He was a very popular actor and 1950s pop star. Not noisy pop. It just stood to my generation for everything that was ‘young’. I read somewhere to begin with Tab Hunter wasn’t even sure he could sing.

Because of his good looks, girls screamed or swooned. He got the orders he had to ‘try’ to sing. He was very lucky – Young Love shot to number one, amazing the world really, even Tab Hunter himself.

Whilst he was young, still good looking, he had scored with Young Love.

There he was on top of the world. Every kid’s dream to be a pop star.

It did come true for Tab Hunter.

I always liked him, I am very sorry to hear he has died.

There is a bit of selfishness there also. Tab Hunter was older than me, if he has died, well I am 70 now.

It says we are all getting older too. Tab Hunter really was a lovely star.

Goodbye Tab – God Bless You

A very special 1950’s star Adrian Vincent Grady Lemonius Street Accrington
