Prolific thief is sent to prison
A PROLIFIC thief who targeted a salon and convenience store in a four-day spree has been jailed.
Kristopher John Murphy burgled the Hair and Faces salon on Bank Street in Accrington on July 20 and stole coins and a hair straightener worth £260.
He also stole fairy liquid and jars of coffee from the Spar store on Burnley Road in Accrington on July 17 and July 20 worth a total of £34.
Murphy, of Wellington Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty at Blackburn Magistrates Court to burglary and two counts of theft.
He was jailed for a total of 18 weeks because of his ‘very bad record’, drug habit and targeting of the same premises.
The Observer reported in March this year how Murphy was jailed for 16 months after targeting nine Accrington town centre shops.
He raided four beauty salons, three supermarkets, Boots and a furniture store in just eight days, causing more than £2,300 in damage and stealing £380 in cash.
Judge Beverley Lunt described drug addict Murphy as a ‘petty criminal’ adding: “He’s done just about everything.
“He’s what we would probably describe as a total nuisance.”
