Bluebell Dorothy was stepping out in Paris

-

YOUNG parishioners enjoying a trip to the zoo are shown in this week’s Looking Back.

Woodnook Baptist Church celebrated its anniversary in 1975 with an outing to Blackpool Zoo and an annual walking day procession (centre photo on the right of this page).

Around 50 adults and 100 children took part in both events and the Rev George Rasmussen conducted a Sunday service.

Dorothy Boyle, from Accrington, achieved her ambition to join the worldfamous Parisienne dancing troupe, The Bluebell Girls (top left).

The 17-year-old passed the audition and was looking forward to travelling to Paris, Barcelona and Las Vegas.

Janine Watson, 14, was crowned the Harvest Queen at Cambridge Street Methodist Church. The picture (right) also shows (back row) Andrew Westwell, Debbie Ireland, Mrs Phyllis Hargreaves, Tracey Beatlie, Sandra Worden (front row) Louise Tomlinson, Marion Dixon, Janine Watson and Helen Maden.

The Hyndburn Pathfind- ers amateur theatre company (top right) performed a successful production of Robinson Crusoe.

It was held at St Christopher’s School just weeks after their previous Little Theatre home was sold.

Our final picture this week (below) shows participants at a five-a-side youth football competition held at Rhyddings Secondary School.
