OVER this last month I`ve spend some time on the website for Office of National statistics and here are just a few facts.

More jobs in Hyndburn have been created and helped the unemployed into work.

The number of people claiming unemployment benefits is DOWN by nine per cent since 2010.

That means more people in work, getting a regular wage. Helping them provide for themselves and their families.

More businesses in the North West.

There are 93,400 more businesses in the North West since 2010.

That means more jobs for Hyndburn – and a stronger local economy.

As a council we want you to keep more of the money you earn.

That’s why we are pleased that there has been a cut in income tax for 41,917 people in Hyndburn.

Helping the typical taxpayer keep £1,075 more a year.

Want to know what the tax cut means to you?

Then check out the tax calculator online.

We want to help you get a home of your own.

That’s why the Government started Help to Buy, so we can give you a hand with your deposit and your mortgage.

In Hyndburn, Help to Buy has already helped 202 families buy their own home.

The UK has created over 3.3 million jobs since 2010 – with the unemployment rate at its lowest since 1975.

A new £5 million fund will support the expansion of groups such as Sea Cadets, Scouts and Guides, helping to ensure that every child is able to reach their full potential.

This new fund will create an estimated 5,500 spaces across England, helping organisations to reduce waiting lists as well as open new groups in deprived areas which is great for Hyndburn with such a rich history.

In addition, the Uniformed Youth Fund will provide more opportunities for adults to volunteer their time in order to grow and sustain groups in their community. Why does this matter? Organisations like these play a key role in many childhoods, teaching important life skills such as teamwork and resilience and helping to ensure every child is able to reach their full potential.

Also Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting to fill spaces on our free 12 week Prince’s Trust “Team Programme” at Hyndburn Community Fire Station starting soon.

It’s an exciting, action packed, full-time programme for those who are not currently in education, training or employment.

It’s an opportunity to build confidence and uncover hidden talents.

It includes a residential in the lakes, volunteer work, a two-week work experience placement and the chance to work with operational fire fighters to develop teamwork, leadership skills and safety awareness.

A nationally recognised qualification can be achieved and development of literacy and numeracy skills.

If you know any young people aged 16 – 25 who are interested, or if you would like to know more please call/text team Leader sophie on 07920 574624 or email sophiebailey@ lancsfirerescue.org.uk.
