CASES heard at Blackburn Magistrate­s Court:

MELVYN Andrew Coulson, 49, of Sandy Lane, Accrington, was found guilty of driving while not wearing a seat belt. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 costs.

DEAN Robert Smethurst, 46, of Horsfall Close, Accrington, pleaded guilty to two counts of shopliftin­g. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £119.98 compensati­on.

JOHNATHON Crook, 25, of Edelston Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualifi­ed and without a test certificat­e and no insurance. He was given an eight-week jail sentence, suspended for 24 months and disqualifi­ed from driving for 12 months.

LUKE Paul Radcliffe, 23, of The Triangle, Huncoat, pleaded guilty to drink-driving. He was fined £323, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualifi­ed from driving for 12 months, reduced by 13 weeks if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

ANTONY Pemberton, 47, of Juniper Court, Huncoat, pleaded guilty to burglary. He was given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months with an eight-week curfew requiremen­t, a six-month drug rehabilita­tion requiremen­t, a 20-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t and ordered to pay £600 compensati­on.

SHAUN Patrick Varley, 45, of Marsden Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, obstructin­g a police officer in the execution of her duty, assault by beating and failing to surrender into custody having been released on bail. He was given a 12-month community order with a six-week curfew requiremen­t, a six-month drug rehabilita­tion requiremen­t, a 20-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t and ordered to pay £100 compensati­on.

THOMAS Hope, 28, of Pansy Street South, Accrington, was found guilty of two counts of failing to give informatio­n relating to the identifica­tion of a driver to police. He was fined £750 and given six points on his driving licence.

JAMES Stewart Alan Taylor, 40, of Norfolk Grove, Church, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and threatenin­g to commit arson. He was given a 12-month community order with a 25-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t, fined £100 and ordered to pay £150 costs.

SOHAIL Iqbal Khan, 21, of Clement Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and no licence, driving a stolen vehicle and allowing himself to be carried in a stolen vehicle. He was jailed for a total of eight weeks, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualifi­ed from driving for 25 months.

DANIEL Phillip Livesey, 38, of Derby Street, Accrington, was found guilty in his absence of two counts of causing unnecessar­y suffering to a protected animal and one count of failing to ensure the needs of an animal. He was given a 12-month community order with a 10-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t, 60 hours’ unpaid work, ordered to pay £200 costs and banned from owning or keeping any animal for 10 years.

LYNDSAY Livesey, 36, of Derby Street, Accrington, was found guilty in her absence of two counts of causing unnecessar­y suffering to a protected animal and one count of failing to ensure the needs of an animal. She was given a 12-month community order with a six-week curfew, a 10-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t, ordered to pay £200 costs and banned from owning or keeping any animal for 10 years.

DANIEL Lee Faina, 33, of Trinity Street, Oswaldtwis­tle, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was given an 18-month conditiona­l discharge and ordered to pay £50 compensati­on and £85 costs.

SEAN Hoyle, 34, of Higher Heys, Oswaldtwis­tle, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage. He was given an 18-month conditiona­l discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
