Charity trustee died after heart attack
TRIBUTES have been paid to a grandad whose death was originally treated as ‘unexplained’.
Stuart Davies, of Byron Close, Oswaldtwistle, was a former trustee and ‘stalwart supporter’ of Lauren’s Place which helps with adolescent mental health issues.
Stuart, 65, suffered a sudden heart attack at home and passed away on Monday, October 15.
Police launched an investigation after being called to his home.
Officers examined the possibility he was involved in a minor collision near to Tesco Express the previous day. Hyndburn Police later confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Stuart’s son Alan said his death came as a ‘big shock’.
He said: “It was a heart attack. My dad has had a heart attack in the past and whenever he has had any heart issues he would call for an ambulance and get the care he needed.
“On this occasion there’s no evidence of him calling for help so we think it was very, very sudden. I don’t think there was any warning at all.
“He had a fall and a bit of a car bump but there’s no evidence that his death is connected to that in any way. He has had falls because of his arthritis and back problems.
“We don’t really know on that day if his heart was giving him trouble so he was not as strong as he normally was. I spoke to him the day before and he was absolutely fine.”
Retired major account manager Stuart moved to Hyndburn from Baskingstoke about ten years ago and helped set up Lauren’s Place in 2014.
The charity was formed after Lauren Johnson, 17, from Oswaldtwistle, fell from the Accrington Arndale Shopping Centre.
Alan, from Southampton, said: “He was very much involved and it was clearly something that was very important to him. He was always a really fun guy and people always enjoyed being around him. He was a real people person and always wanted to help.
“He was really into local community.”
A Lauren’s Place spokesperson said: “We are very sad to receive news of the passing of Stuart Davies a former trustee and stalwart supporter of Lauren’s Place.
“You will be missed Stuart. Rest in peace and sincere condolences to your family friends.”
