Three points always worth risk to Coley

STANLEY boss John Coleman says he never goes out to try and draw a game and would rather risk losing in order to try and get the victory.

The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at Coventry on Saturday, after the home side had equalised late on. Despite conceding, Stanley tried to restore their lead instead of settling for a point, and Coleman is glad to see his players have that mindset.

“I’d never ever take a draw. You could sometimes call me foolish for that, but I’d always risk it to try and win the three points,” he said.

“What I’ll say about the character of our lads is that most teams that are winning 1-0 at Coventry and concede in the 88th minute will then do their best to see out a 1-1.

“We didn’t do that and went out and made two chances after that, so it tells you what we feel about the game and what our purpose is.

“We could have had more goals on Sautrday, and right at the end when it was 1-1, Jordan Clark has missed a chance at the death where if it had gone in then we’re all singing on the coach on the way home. For their goal Connor Ripley (pictured) has made a great save but unfortunately the ball has fell to their player when it could have gone anywhere.

“When it’s your day it would fall for you and you’d clear it and win the game, but it wasn’t to be.”
