Christ­mas fes­tiv­i­ties kick-off with a bang

HUGE crowds are ex­pected to gather in Accrington town cen­tre for the Christ­mas lights switch-on and fire­works dis­play.

Or­gan­is­ers are promis­ing a treat for all the fam­ily with live mu­sic, fes­tive food, a fun­fair and a snow globe on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 28.

The packed pro­gramme will start with the bless­ing of the crib on the new town square at 4.45pm fol­lowed by a three-hour pro­gramme of school choirs and en­ter­tain­ers on stage.

The lights will be switched on at 7.45pm by Hyn­d­burn Mayor Coun­cil­lor Mo­ham­mad Ayub and Accrington Car­ni­val Queen He­len Trick­ett.

Other at­trac­tions in­clude fair­ground rides and a Frozen snow globe on Broad­way and a Mag­i­cal May­oral Mar­ket and Christ­mas craft mar­ket in the Town Hall Ball­room.

Or­gan­iser Gayle Knight said: “We are ex­pect­ing the town to be buzzing with every­thing that’s go­ing on.”
