New homes work gets underway
WORK has officially started on a major housing development.
The former Church Bank Works site will be transformed into 48 two, three and four-bed homes targeted at local residents and first-time buyers.
Developer Gleeson Homes welcomed Hyndburn Mayor Mohammad Ayub and his wife to the St James Court scheme to officially start construction.
They were joined by Gleeson’s area manager John Mooney and sales manager Sue Irving.
A spokesperson said: “The new homes at St James Court are already proving extremely popular with local buyers thanks to their low prices and location on the banks of the Leeds to Liverpool Canal.
“Gleeson will be opening show homes on the development in the New Year with the first residents hoping to move into their new homes in the spring.”
Bosses said that in addition to bringing ‘much needed new homes to the area’, the Gleeson Community Matters Programme will provide jobs for local people and see the housebuilder work with schools, offer site-based apprenticeships and sponsor a junior sports team.
