MARK Dowding entertaine­d 35 people at an evening event put on by The Friends Of Oswaldtwis­tle Library.

He sang various Lancashire songs, accompanie­d by guitar or banjo, and the evening was enjoyed by everyone.

Nick Holden, a well-known author, also spoke to 20 members of the writing group.

He had been a policeman in this area for many years.

Since retiring he has written 30 crime novels and encouraged people to ask questions regarding writing and publishing books.

On December 4 at 2pm St Andrew’s School Choir will be performing at the library followed by the Darwen Adult Choir. There will be mince pies and tea and coffee.

We invite all the community to come and enjoy.

Our monthly events are:

Second Tuesday is Reading Group, 2pm to 3pm.

First and third Tuesday is Writing Group, 2pm to 3pm.

First Tuesday is Brew and Chat 2pm to 4pm,

First Friday Family History 10.30am until noon. Our weekly events are: Monday, Baby Bounce, 10.30am to 11am.

Tuesday, Learn My Way (computer course for beginners) 10.30am to noon.

Wednesday, Up and Active (weight check, menus and healthy living advice) 11am to 11.30am Thursday we’re closed. Friday, Storytime, 10.30am to 11am.

All Weekly/Monthly events are free and everyone is welcome to come along.
