Reds set for r full house for Black Cats visit
ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman says he has already identified the players he wants to sign when the January transfer window opens next month.
The Reds currently have seven players on loan at the club, but only five are able to be named in a match-day squad.
Connor Hall (Bolton), Dan Barlaser (Newcastle), Michael Iheikwe (Rotherham) and Nick Anderton (Blackpool) all have contracts until the start of January, while Connor Ripley (Middlesbrough), Luke Charman (Newcastle) and Matty Platt (Blackburn) have deals until the end of the season.
Even though they are currently contracted until the end of the campaign, there is still the possibility of a recall in January in their contracts.
Stanley’s loan situation wasn’t helped with the transfer window shutting early in the summer, meaning clubs had to have their business done before the first game of the season.
With all of that in mind, Coleman knows that he will have to act in January, and has made it clear that he will be bringing players in as soon as the window opens.
“I have a couple of players lined up to come in, in the first week of January. You have to assess what you think you need,” he told the club’s official website.
“We are all learning all the time, we made quite a few changes from last season and players have had to adapt.
“Players like Nick Anderton have benefited from playing regularly but we will have to see what happens in January.
“We definitely need more goals and we have one or two irons in the fire. I have been hamstrung and haven’t been able to give players like Luke Charman much game-time because of the five player loan rule. I would like to see Connor Hall get a good run before the end of his loan spell.”
