HOUSE BLAZE

A RES­I­DENT was treated for smoke in­hala­tion after a house fire in Ac­cring­ton.

Two fire crews from Hyn­d­burn were called to Steiner Street shortly be­fore 10am on Fri­day, Novem­ber 30.

Lan­cashire Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said the blaze in­volved fab­ric be­hind a gas fire on the ground floor and they used breath­ing ap­pa­ra­tus, a house reel and ven­ti­la­tion fan to ex­tin­guish it.

Fire­fight­ers were at the scene for around 50 min­utes.

KITCHEN FIRE

FIRE crews tack­led a kitchen fire at a house in Ac­cring­ton.

Two fire en­gines from Hyn­d­burn were called to Prim­rose Street at 7.45pm on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 2.

Lan­cashire Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said the fire in­volved a wash­ing ma­chine in the kitchen and they were at the scene for around 40 min­utes.

TWO IN­JURED

AN Ac­cring­ton van driver was un­hurt after a col­li­sion be­tween his Ford Tran­sit and a car in which the driver of the Honda, a 90-year-old man, and a 93-year-old woman pas­sen­ger suf­fered se­ri­ous in­juries.

The 30-year-old was in­volved in the col­li­sion on Whal­ley Road, Clitheroe, at 2.30pm on Mon­day, Dec 3. The car driver and pas­sen­ger are in ‘crit­i­cal but sta­ble con­di­tion’ in hospi­tal.
