Dennis Taylor opens elite club

BOLD Street Working Men’s Club features in Looking Back this week.

The picture (bottom l left), taken by Gareth Dawson in the 1970s, shows members being presented with trophies for winning the snooker and domino league at the Accrington and District Federation of W WMC’s prize night.

Federation secretary Billy Beetham presented the trophies, and a raffle raised £39 for federation funds and a convalesc cent home.

Ann Pollard was i installed as the new c chairman of Accrington Ladies Circle when the group met at the Spread Eagle Hotel in Barrow (left centre).

Ben Clarkson was joined by profession­al snooker player Dennis Taylor when he opened his new Elite Billiards and Snooker Centre.

Also pictured (top left) are Jim Meadowcrof­t and contractor­s personnel.

A plaster cast competitio­n, water sports and vintage car rally were just three of the highlights at a Cub Pack weekend.

Thirty seven cubs and eight leaders, from 1st Clayton-le-Moors All Saints Pack ,enjoyed the trip to Bowley.
