Three are cut free after crash

THREE peo­ple had to be cut free from a car after a head-on col­li­sion with a HGV.

Po­lice, fire­fight­ers and paramedics were called to El­ton Road in Belthorn at the junc­tion of Jack­son Heights Road and Grane Road, near to the Grey Mare Inn.

Four fire en­gines from Chor­ley, Bam­ber Bridge, Nel­son and Black­burn were called to the scene at around 4.15pm on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 29.

Cut­ting equip­ment was used to re­lease the fe­male driver and two pas­sen­gers

Po­lice said all three were taken to hospi­tal with ‘mi­nor in­juries’.

A Lan­cashire Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice spokesper­son said: “The in­ci­dent was a head on col­li­sion be­tween a HGV and a ve­hi­cle with mul­ti­ple per­sons trapped.

“Fire crews used hol­ma­tro cut­ters and spread­ers to re­lease the ca­su­al­ties.

“Po­lice and am­bu­lance were in at­ten­dance and fire crews were in at­ten­dance for one hour and forty five min­utes.”
