MRS Joyce Walker, of Springhill Care Home, passed away on Satur­day, Novem­ber 24, aged 89.

Joyce was the daugh­ter of Frank and Mary Og­den, who had a jew­ellery and watch re­pair busi­ness in the town which ran for 91 years. Most of her work­ing life was spent in the shop and she took over run­ning the shop on her par­ents’ re­tire­ment. On tak­ing her early re­tire­ment she lived out in the Rib­ble Val­ley.

Joyce and late hus­band Jim re­turned to Ac­cring­ton in 2006.

Joyce was a mem­ber of the lo­cal Women’s In­sti­tute and from time to time helped in var­i­ous lo­cal char­i­ties.

An out­door per­son, she en­joyed the coun­try­side. She loved her gar­den, bird watch­ing, dogs and horses. She took a keen in­ter­est in all her grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren.

Joyce was the wife of the late Jim and mother of the late Jen­nifer and sis­ter of the late Mar­garet. She leaves daugh­ter Janet, son-in-law James, grand­chil­dren Cara, Gavin and Ivor, great­grand­chil­dren Lily, Ailsa and Cameron, and step-chil­dren Sue and Stephen, step­grand­chil­dren Mandy, Gemma, Katie and Emily and great, step­grand­chil­dren Ava and At­las, and neph­ews and a niece. She was also the life­long friend of 78 years to Re­nee.

A fu­neral ser­vice and cre­ma­tion will be held at 2.20pm on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 12, at Ac­cring­ton Cre­ma­to­rium.
