MRS Joyce Walker, of Springhill Care Home, passed away on Saturday, November 24, aged 89.

Joyce was the daughter of Frank and Mary Ogden, who had a jewellery and watch repair business in the town which ran for 91 years. Most of her working life was spent in the shop and she took over running the shop on her parents’ retirement. On taking her early retirement she lived out in the Ribble Valley.

Joyce and late husband Jim returned to Accrington in 2006.

Joyce was a member of the local Women’s Institute and from time to time helped in various local charities.

An outdoor person, she enjoyed the countrysid­e. She loved her garden, bird watching, dogs and horses. She took a keen interest in all her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Joyce was the wife of the late Jim and mother of the late Jennifer and sister of the late Margaret. She leaves daughter Janet, son-in-law James, grandchild­ren Cara, Gavin and Ivor, greatgrand­children Lily, Ailsa and Cameron, and step-children Sue and Stephen, stepgrandc­hildren Mandy, Gemma, Katie and Emily and great, stepgrandc­hildren Ava and Atlas, and nephews and a niece. She was also the lifelong friend of 78 years to Renee.

A funeral service and cremation will be held at 2.20pm on Wednesday, December 12, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please, however, if desired, donations are requested for North West Air Ambulance.
