COLIN SCHOLES

-

MR Colin Scholes, of Olive Lane, Darwen, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, aged 47.

In his early years Colin attended Broadfield School and whilst growing up he learned to draw and paint from his Grandad who was a well-known artist. He also learned sign writing and joinery at Clayton Park. On leaving school he went to college for expressive art which he passed with flying colours.

Colin greatly enjoyed the outdoors and trained for landscape gardening at Tinker Brook Nursery which he loved. Later in life he got a job with the local council in the cleansing department as a street cleaner for Oswaldtwistle and took pride in keeping Ossy clean for ten years; he later also turned his hand to painting and decorating for 15 years.

Throughout his life Colin had many hobbies including art, karate, cooking, scuba diving, watching films, bass guitar and listening to heavy metal music.

He also loved birds and animals, especially taking his own dog as well as his adopted dogs for walks.

A favourite pastime of Colin’s was going with his family to his favourite seaside place of Blackpool, where he and his brothers loved going on the Grand National.

At home he cared for his fantail doves, his house rabbit Halo, his parakeet Regan and had happy memories of Tess his German Shepherd.

Colin was the dearly- loved son of Olive and Brian, a much-loved brother of Alan and Graham and also a dear uncle to Scarlet.

He will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1.45pm on Wednesday, December 12, at New Lane Baptist Church, Oswaldtwistle, prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.

Family flowers only please, but donations are welcome in memory of Colin for either the New Lane Baptist Church (Remembrance Garden Fund) or for Bispham Bird Rescue Centre, c/o Barton and Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
