MR Derek Tay­lor, of York Place, Ac­cring­ton, died on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 1, aged 84, peace­fully at Springhill Care Home with fam­ily by his side.

Derek did Na­tional Ser­vice in the RAF where he was fire­man/driver, be­fore start­ing work at Mullards.

He then moved on to Car­borun­dum Clay­tonle-Moors and then took up the po­si­tion of stew­ard at United Ser­vices Great Har­wood, High­field Dar­wen, be­fore fin­ish­ing his work­ing life at Top Club Clay­ton-le-Moors.

Derek loved all sports but mainly foot­ball and cricket and was a keen Burn­ley sup­porter, whilst in his early years was an um­pire in the am­a­teur cricket leagues. He played darts and domi­noes for many years for the Hare and Hounds Clay­ton-le-Moors and was also a keen am­a­teur lines­man.

He and his late wife Brenda loved cruises and hol­i­day­ing in Spain.

The dearly-loved hus­band of the late Brenda, he was muchloved fa­ther of Philip, Chris­tine, David, Rus­sell, Michael and An­drew, fa­ther-in-law to Jackie, John, Michelle, Carol, Ar­lene and Julie and much-loved grand­fa­ther, great-grand­fa­ther and great, great-grand­fa­ther.

A fu­neral ser­vice will take place at 3pm on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 14, at Ac­cring­ton Cre­ma­to­rium, ad­min­is­tered by David Ire­land, fol­lowed by cre­ma­tion. Every­one is wel­come at Burn­ley Road Bowl­ing Club af­ter­wards.
