MR Derek Taylor, of York Place, Accrington, died on Saturday, December 1, aged 84, peacefully at Springhill Care Home with family by his side.

Derek did National Service in the RAF where he was fireman/driver, before starting work at Mullards.

He then moved on to Carborundu­m Claytonle-Moors and then took up the position of steward at United Services Great Harwood, Highfield Darwen, before finishing his working life at Top Club Clayton-le-Moors.

Derek loved all sports but mainly football and cricket and was a keen Burnley supporter, whilst in his early years was an umpire in the amateur cricket leagues. He played darts and dominoes for many years for the Hare and Hounds Clayton-le-Moors and was also a keen amateur linesman.

He and his late wife Brenda loved cruises and holidaying in Spain.

The dearly-loved husband of the late Brenda, he was muchloved father of Philip, Christine, David, Russell, Michael and Andrew, father-in-law to Jackie, John, Michelle, Carol, Arlene and Julie and much-loved grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r and great, great-grandfathe­r.

A funeral service will take place at 3pm on Friday, December 14, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by David Ireland, followed by cremation. Everyone is welcome at Burnley Road Bowling Club afterwards.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested to Cancer Research, c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
