Christmas Day joy for lonely

-

A CHURCH and community centre will open its doors on Christmas Day to feed the needy and lonely.

Rev Anthony Roberts, says Holy Trinity Church in Oswaldtwistle is excited to be holding the event for a second year.

The Union Road church will open from 1pm to offer food and entertainment to guests.

Rev Roberts told a recent public meeting: “We will have our church open on Christmas Day, not just for those who are homeless but for anyone who is going to be alone.

“We will sit down and have lunch and then watch the Queen’s speech, do charades and everything that everybody does on Christmas Day. There is a buffet in the evening as well. If you know anybody who is currently on their own that we can arrange to get picked up and dropped off at church then let us know.”

Anyone wanting to attend or book a place should call 01254 383939.

Action for Dementia is also asking inviting residents to join them for a free Christmas Day dinner at Hippings Vale Community Centre, Oswaldtwistle from 12 noon to 4pm. Transport can be arranged. Call Jan on 07464 072019.
