Christ­mas Day joy for lonely

A CHURCH and com­mu­nity cen­tre will open its doors on Christ­mas Day to feed the needy and lonely.

Rev An­thony Roberts, says Holy Trin­ity Church in Oswaldtwistle is ex­cited to be hold­ing the event for a sec­ond year.

The Union Road church will open from 1pm to of­fer food and en­ter­tain­ment to guests.

Rev Roberts told a re­cent pub­lic meet­ing: “We will have our church open on Christ­mas Day, not just for those who are home­less but for any­one who is go­ing to be alone.

“We will sit down and have lunch and then watch the Queen’s speech, do cha­rades and ev­ery­thing that ev­ery­body does on Christ­mas Day. There is a buf­fet in the evening as well. If you know any­body who is cur­rently on their own that we can ar­range to get picked up and dropped off at church then let us know.”

Ac­tion for De­men­tia is also ask­ing invit­ing res­i­dents to join them for a free Christ­mas Day din­ner at Hip­pings Vale Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Oswaldtwistle from 12 noon to 4pm. Trans­port can be ar­ranged. Call Jan on 07464 072019.
