MR John Fran­cis Spear, of Po­plar Av­enue, Great Har­wood, died peace­fully in his sleep at home, on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 4, aged 80.

John had var­i­ous jobs through­out his life in­clud­ing a post­man, sweet maker, a chauf­feur for sev­eral years at Brooke Bond OXO and a fish­mon­ger at Ac­cring­ton Asda un­til his re­tire­ment.

He was a mem­ber of Rish­ton Golf Club for over 20 years.

In his spare time he en­joyed paint­ing, car boots and travel, un­til ill health forced him to stop.

Beloved hus­band of the late Va­lerie Spear, he was cher­ished dad of David and Gil­lian, grandad to So­phie and the late Vikki and fa­ther-in-law of Made­line and Gregg.

The funeral ser­vice will take place at Ac­cring­ton Cre­ma­to­rium on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 28 at 10.20am, con­ducted by the min­is­ter San­dra Howles, fol­lowed by cre­ma­tion.
