TALENTED young mathematicians have competed in an inter-primary school quiz.
The annual Mad 4 Maths contest was organised and hosted by Mount Carmel RC High School’s maths department in Accrington.
Eighteen teams undertook three competitive rounds including one using QR codes, geometry questions and a treasure hunt problem solving round.
Pupils from St Mary’s RC primary school in Oswaldtwistle won the competition with Sacred Heart Primary finishing runners-up and St Oswald’s Primary in Knuzden coming third.
Mount Carmel year 11 pupils assisted with the scoring along with year 7 pupils who helped during the evening.
Sue Fielding, school partnership manager, said: “The largest audience to date came along with approximately 120 parents, grandparents and primary school staff supporting the teams and they had the opportunity to enter a parents’ prize quiz and raffle.
“Refreshments were served during the interval by Mount Carmel Parent Teacher and Friends Association.”
