Eighth award for composer
AN Accrington-born composer has won a record-breaking eighth British Composer Award.
Sir Harrison Birtwistle is one of the leading voices in British music and has collaborated with English National Opera, the Royal Opera House, BBC Proms, Glyndebourne, and many international organisations.
He won his eighth award for ‘Deep Time’ which compares musical processes to the running of geological time and makes him the most successful composer in the award’s history.
